5 Wedding Ideas You Won't Regret Later...

Weddings are all about celebrating you and your soulmate and the lifelong commitment you are making to each other. Yet, after painting at over 200 weddings, I often see couples and families lose sight of this and regret certain decisions later. So for the sake of all the beautiful couples that are getting married in the future, I present to you a list of five ideas you won’t regret after the wedding. Congratulations to you both! I hope this helps.

1. a quiet moment alone together

To begin with, the first idea I suggest for couples is *drumroll please* make sure you plan to have a quiet moment just between the two of you (no photographer or planner) to just talk, laugh, cry, whatever you feel in the moment before the night begins. This day is a huge investment in every way and will become a memory you both will look back on as a symbol of your love for a lifetime. It would be a shame if you didn't take at least a few minutes to let mind rest so you can take it all in. Make sure to get a snack and refreshment before everything starts too if possible!

If you are having a first look and don't want to see each other until then, plan for some time after that but don't wait for the last dance. The last dance will be the cherry on top of everything and so special, but you will both likely be exhausted and you will be surrounded by people.

May sound like a small thing, but I think it could improve your overall experience of your wedding significantly and it doesn’t cost you a thing!

2. favors guests won’t throw away

Why invest in favors that will be thrown away? The number one feedback I get from painting live custom portraits of guests is that it’s something they will cherish forever. They are timeless in style and quality, and perfect for small or large weddings. Countless guests and couples have sent me photos of their portraits framed at home and it fills my heart with so much joy! A special portrait of the bride and groom is always included in my guest portrait packages here as well.

An added bonus of guest portraits, is that it is entertaining to watch for everyone and especially for the elderly and children who might not be able to participate in other activities as much.

3. an heirloom of your wedding day painted live

Imagine this: while you're exchanging vows, walking down the aisle, or dancing, an artist is painting the scene as it unfolds. By the end of the night, you’ll have a gorgeous, hand-painted memory of your ceremony to hang in your home forever. It’s romantic, timeless, personal, and entertaining for everyone.

4. guest voicemail station

I have only seen this at a few weddings but thought it was brilliant. Hire a vendor or set up your own station where guests can record voice messages or video at your wedding for you to listen and watch later. Leave it open-ended where they can tell jokes, reminisce, or encourage you in your future together.

You can give your guests fun prompts on a sign like, “My favorite memory with the couple…” or “My best marriage advice…” or even “Where I see you in 10 years…”. I hope to see this idea used more often in the future because I think it’s so fun and something you can cherish forever!

HERE is an example of one Nashville company that does this.

5. disposable film for guests

This is a more popular idea I see online, but honestly have not seen at many weddings in person. Obviously, choosing the right photographer is important but I think it would be so special to have guests take candid shots of people and moments they thought were meaningful or fun. You can have a bin near the exit for people to drop it off in for you to develop later. At most oil development places they offer digital copies of your photos you can send to guests, while your wedding for your official wedding photos to be edited.

Final Thoughts…

At the end of the day, the most meaningful weddings are the ones that reflect you. Whether it's live art or disposable film, these small, thoughtful details can turn your day into something truly magical that will last a lifetime—for you and everyone you love .

Planning something fun for your big day? Share it below—I’d love to hear!

I hope you have the best wedding ever! Cheers!!
